Australian Quaker biographies now online
Biographical details of over 700 people associated with Australian Quakers since 1855 are now able to be searched at www.bios.quakers.org.au.
This rich digital archive will be of interest not only to Quakers, but also to historical and family history researchers.
Most of the information comes from the Dictionary of Australian Quaker Biography (DAQB), the compilation of information about Australian Friends who have died, usually consisting of the Testimony to the Grace of God in the life of the Friend prepared by their Regional Meeting, as well as any other relevant information.
Short audio file biographies of 30 significant Quakers from different parts of the world may also be accessed from the ‘Australian Quaker Biographies’ website. Information about Quakers who arrived in Australia before 1862, based on the research of Marjorie and William Oats, may also be searched.
