Quaker Quest — an introduction to Quakerism
National Quaker Week, 22-30 September, is an ideal opportunity to find out more about Quakers. Various Quaker meetings throughout Australia hold sessions that explore the experience of Quakers through a series of informal presentations, discussions and workshops. There is also time to meet new people and browse literature. A number of themed sessions will be offered, and some meetings will repeat these throughout the year and offer additional sessions.
Everyone is welcome — all you need is an open mind. The meetings are free and refreshments will be served.

Quakers and Worship
Quakers think that everyone can sense something within them that shows how to grow closer to God, however we interpret that name. We come together in a Meeting for Worship to search ourselves in stillness and silence for this spiritual truth. We worship without using rites or symbols and have no paid ministers.
Quakers and Peace
We seek first to find inner peace. This leads to a commitment to peaceable behaviour and non-violent relations with others. We acknowledge that conflict exists and even that it may have benefits, but we reject violence and war: even as ways to achieve desirable ends.
Our spiritual beliefs are the basis of our understanding of peace and some of the ways that we are lead to act. These include involvement in conflict areas, mediation, humanitarian work, conflict resolution, protest and non-violent direct action.
